EPA Pollution Expert Dr. Jeffery Morris Added to InformEx 2017 Speakers

Regulator to focus on key provisions of the Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act

One of the specialty chemical industry’s most popular meetings, InformEx is known for hosting a world-class keynote speakers program. In its 33rd year, InformEx continues to attract prominent speakers for its Connect Conference program, providing a forum for industry experts to deliver their thought leadership to a diverse cross section of industry sales, marketing, production and executive managers.

Recent legislation will soon be affecting the specialty chemical industry. To help understand the new law, Jeffery Morris, a director of the U.S. EPA’s Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics office will highlight key provisions of the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act, the country’s central chemicals management law signed by Congress last summer. With more than 24 years’ experience at the EPA, Morris should provide keen insight into implementing the law and complying with key mandates, two of which are due by June 22, 2017. The first requires chemical manufacturers to report within six months all chemicals currently produced or have produced over the past decade, and the second, establishing a process for designating high and low priorities to conduct risk assessments of chemicals in commercial use.

Also presenting to keynote attendees is chemical industry turnaround expert John Foley, CEO of ORG Chemicals Holding LLC. According to Foley, businesses with declining profitability and cash flow must institute change or face the inevitable. Even more challenging, says Foley, is unleashing the potential of an average-performing company that is resistant to change. Presenting on value creation and innovation, Foley will share with InformEx his experiences developing strategies to build aligned, engaged organizations able to speed growth and pursue its markets successfully.

InformEx will convene a keynote panel at the end of the program featuring prominent Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates (SOCMA) members Joe Dettinger, Director Government Relations, Bimax, Inc., Jack Drawdy, Vice President, Sales & Business Development, MFG Chemical, Inc. and Michael Ott, president and CEO, Polysciences, Inc. The keynote panelists will share dialogue and their perspectives and executive experience on how innovation is transforming the manufacturing process and the challenges they and their company’s face operating as key members of the specialty chemical supply chain.
