Croda Buys Tech Companies in Canada, Finland

Croda International PLC (CRDA.LN) said Thursday that it had bought two separate companies — a Canadian marine biotechnology company and a technology supplier headquartered in Finland — for an undisclosed fee.

The U.K.-listed chemicals producer said it bought Nautilus Biosciences Canada Inc. to implement its marine microbial biodiversity science across all of Croda's market sectors.

Croda also said it intends to establish an innovation center for marine biotechnology at Nautilus's existing base at the University of Prince Edward Island.

The second acquisition, Finnish company IonPhasE Oy, is a supplier of static-electricity protection products that operates within the plastics market, Croda said.

The purchases bring Croda's number of technology acquisitions and co-investments completed in the last year to four, the company said.
