Alconox Inc. Announced Its 75th Anniversary as an Internationally Distributed Manufacturer of Critical Cleaning Detergents

For over 75 years, Alconox has been the recognized leader in detergents, used extensively in the laboratory, pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, healthcare, electronics, solar, food, nuclear, optics, cannabis and cosmetics industries.  The aqueous detergents and cleaners span the range from acidic to neutral to alkaline, low and higher foaming, powder and liquid concentrates, phosphate and phosphate-free, to meet virtually any critical cleaning challenge.

Regarding the anniversary, Elliot M. Lebowitz, Chief Operating Officer remarked, “As a member of this third generation, family-owned business, I am so proud to be part of this historic anniversary.” Elliot added, “To succeed for 75 years means having loyal employees, customers and vendors.  Thanks to all, past and present, who have made this possible.”

The history of Alconox started just prior to 1943 where it was discovered that a wetting agent excelled at cleaning glassware without leaving residues by Louis Zisman. William Lebowitz, father of Elliot, owned a distribution company called Standard Scientific Supply, focused on serving the laboratory industry. In 1946 Louis and William combined their respective talents by forming Alconox Inc. to manufacture and distribute Alconox® Powdered Precision Cleaner. Shortly thereafter, Alconox opened an office at 853 Broadway, New York, NY. Over time, more and more dealers signed up to distribute Alconox detergent and the product became widely distributed to laboratories and hospitals.  From there, detergent chemistries and formulations were added based on market needs and cleaning requirements.  Each innovative new detergent was developed with an eye towards effectiveness, the complete removal of contaminating residues as well as free rinsing of the detergent.

"Alconox has a rich, proud and long history providing critical cleaning products in support of scientists and engineers around the globe," said Michael Moussourakis, Senior Director of Strategic Affairs.  "We call upon many decades of industry and critical cleaning experience to provide this leading support to our end-users and dealers alike.  We look forward to the next 75 years of continued innovation in critical cleaning."

The Alconox team consists of expert chemists, technical support, sales support, R&D analysts, and quality specialists to provide critical cleaning guidance and quality assurance to our dealers and end users around the globe.
