AI Predicts The Shape Of Almost Every Protein In The Realm Of Science

DeepMind’s AlphaFold tool was able to determine the structure of various microscopic biological mechanisms.

DeepMind, an artificial intelligence lab, has produced a technology that’s able to predict the shape of various proteins. This tool is named AlphaFold. The tool was able to predict the shapes of the microscopic mechanisms expressed by the human genome. This tool was groundbreaking across the life  sciences, including in the biopharma industry, as once scientists are able to identify the shapes of these proteins, it makes it much easier to understand diseases and produce cures for these diseases. Additionally, it helps scientists identify and evaluate patterns to detect correlations between species.

DeepMind is a lab based in London and owned by the same parent company as Google. DeepMind recently expanded their research reach by 200 million predictions within their online database. This will help scientists all around the globe to excel in their research. Previously, to determine the shape of a protein required experiments, X-rays, and sophisticated microscopes. Now, the AlphaFold technology can predict the shape of any protein effortlessly.

This database and expansion calls for further advancements in the industry and will be able to reach a larger community of scientists. Scientists say that this technology saves months of research and experimentation time and will be a helpful tool moving forward in the future of science.
