Bosch Packaging Business Up for Sale

Company says it needs to be more flexible to compete.

Bosch company is putting the specialized packaging units up for sale to increase flexibility and react appropriately to changes in the packaging machinery market.

The move will also allow the Bosch Group to focus on other issues that are of current importance, according to Dr. Stefan Hartung, the Bosch board of management member responsible for the Energy and Building Technology and Industrial Technology business sectors. Those areas include the transformation of the Bosch Group and its future digitalization strategy.

The company recently began to realign itself under new management, and several packaging machinery business (PA) units have been improved and are positioned for success going forward, according to Bosch. PA has always led a largely independent existence within the Bosch Group, and will in the future be able to respond even better to the requirements of the packaging industry. Our customers will benefit from this,” noted Dr. Stefan König, chairman of the managing board of Robert Bosch Packaging Technology GmbH.

PA currently employs approximately 6,100 associates in its global packaging technology operations. Bosch’s goal is for all associates and locations to be retained by the eventual buyer. The special-purpose machinery manufacturer Robert Bosch Manufacturing Solutions GmbH will remain part of the Bosch Group.
