Day 15: Engine Troubles and a Byron Bay Detour

Not the Kind of Smoke Signal You Want to See

Day 15 of Road to the Max: Australia brought unexpected challenges as we spent most of the day in beautiful Byron Bay—without the Interceptor. Engine trouble forced us to take the iconic vehicle to the shop, where the team at NAS worked to diagnose the issue. Faced with the possibility of finishing the final days of the journey without our beloved car, the crew had to come to terms with a different path forward.

Remember to Always Check Your Nozzle

Still determined to see the adventure through, we split up—half of us traveled in the support vehicle, while the others hopped on a bus to continue towards Brisbane. The culprit behind the car trouble? Someone had mistakenly filled the Interceptor with diesel fuel. Thankfully, the skilled crew at NAS was able to flush the engine and get the car back in action! Reunited with the Interceptor, we’re ready to tackle the last leg of this fuel-injected journey as we head toward our final destination: Brisbane.
