Day13: Wildlife and Wild Rides on the Way to Coffs Harbour

Behind the Scenes with the Koala Conservation Team

On Day 13 of the Road to the Max: Australia, the team visited the Koala Hospital at Port Macquarie, where injured koalas are rehabilitated and eventually released back into the wild. They interviewed the scientific team and volunteers dedicated to the care and conservation of these incredible animals. The koalas have been rescued from various parts of Australia, and thanks to the hospital’s care and support, many are successfully returned to their natural habitats. The team went from there to a historic gaol, where they did a photo shoot featuring the Falcon with a goup of other classic muscle cars and bikes.

Muscle Cars Take Over Historic Prison Grounds

Eager to earn their sea legs, the crew rolled onto the Hibbard Ferry, cruising across the estuary in Port Macquarie. Their next stop? The infamous Trial Bay Prison in Arakoon National Park. No need to panic—they were only there for a muscle car photo shoot. With a Holden HZ Sandman and a Marlboro race car in the mix, it was a fuel-injected afternoon.

The team revved up once more, heading straight into the wilds of Dangal Falls in Dorrigo National Park. After a day filled with roaring engines the serenity of the rainforest and waterfall provided a relaxing way to end the day before their drive to Coffs Harbour.
