Hitting the Road to BIO

The Road to BIO

June 8 /// June 19

They say that the best odds of driving a promising molecule to market are established from the earliest stages of discovery. And as with any successful road trip, what happens during the early planning process lays the foundation for a smooth ride from start to finish.

The Road to BIO, as you’ve heard us say, is all about overcoming adversity. We expect across our journey to encounter several roadblocks — potholes, weather, and perhaps a speeding ticket or two — for which we’ve tried as much as possible to plan ahead. However, we didn’t expect quite so many roadblocks before even pulling out onto Fifth Avenue from our NYC headquarters.

Contingency Planning

Because the vehicle powering our journey toward BIO 2017 happens to be an exotic, limited release sports car, the matter of service — particularly finding replacement parts— is a tricky one. If we blow a tire, for instance, we can’t simply throw on a spare — we’ll need to change out the entire wheel. Unfortunately, these wheels take a week and a half to arrive, and we’ve just been notified only one of the two we ordered will arrive in time for our journey. In summary, if we rupture more than one tire, we’re in trouble.

Breakthrough at BIO

We’ve hit a few other minor bumps, but as we prepare to hit the road tomorrow, we are taking these hitches as opportunities to practice breaking through challenges. After all, the theme of this year’s BIO International Convention is all about celebrating breakthrough achievements to achieve innovation milestones, and we certainly hope to be celebrating with the convention’s 16,000 plus attendees on June 19th.

Join us along our journey and help us guess the final stats by taking the Road to BIO Challenge detailed below. And don’t forget to stop by #BIO2017 booth 1019 see how we fared in our journey!

Road to BIO: The Challenge

As much as we’ve planned our Road to BIO, the number of obstacles we will inevitably encounter make it impossible to know what the outcome will be. So, we need your help! We’re taking guesses at the final stats of the trip, and giving away an iPad Pro to the individual who comes the closest. Visit www.pharmasalmanac.com/bio to play now.
