The BIO International Convention

Taking place this year from June 19th – June 22nd in San Diego, the BIO International Convention, the biotech industry’s largest global event, is hosted by the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO). The convention provides access to global biotech and pharma leaders via BIO One-on-One Partnering™, exposure to industry thought leaders and unparalleled networking opportunities. BIO partnering is at an all-time high and will host 40,000 meetings in San Diego. There’s still time to register at convention.bio.org.

Supporting the Biotech Community

Each year, the BIO International Convention brings together leaders in biotech, pharma, outsourced services, academic institutions, and government organizations to inspire constructive dialogue around the biggest trends and technologies impacting the industry. This year, the convention will host more than 16,000 attendees from over 5,000 companies.

The BIO International Convention: The History

Since the first BIO International Convention in 1993, the event has evolved from approximately 1,400 attendees to upwards of 15,000 each year, with BIO 2007 in Boston hosting the largest number of attendees—22,000. While the biotech industry has evolved considerably over nearly a quarter of a century, many of the overriding themes have remained consistent through the years, such as raising market capital, navigating the regulatory landscape, and remaining abreast of patenting trends.

Bringing Together the BIO Leaders of the World

From the largest biotech innovators to financial investors and professional services organizations, the BIO International Convention hosts stakeholders from all walks of the bio community. BIO itself represents organizations from the U.S. and more than 30 other nations, and this year’s BIO International Convention will welcome industry leaders from over 76 countries

Breakthrough Partnerships at BIO

The theme of this year’s BIO International Convention is “Breakthrough,” an appropriate denotation to commemorate the organizations around the world breaking ground in biotech to achieve innovation milestones. BIO supports these organizations by advocating for the industry, working with policymakers in the U.S. and abroad to encourage innovation and improve patient access.
